The Grace Law of God and the Law of the World
Distinguishing the Law of God’s Salvation and the Law of the World
The Apostle Paul advised the believers in Thessalonica to “not despise the prophecies.” “Despise” means “to despise, to disregard.” “Prophecies” in the New Testament means “the proclamation of the Word of God,” and this phrase also refers to “the Bible,” which is the revealed Word of God given to man, as the Apostle Peter wrote: “Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:20-21). Thus, the “prophecies” that Paul mentioned are the powerful Word of God given to “teach, rebuke, correct, and train in righteousness” (II Timothy 3:16), and the “prophecies” or the Word of God are the foundation for considering what is good, what is beautiful to keep, and what is evil, what is bad, and what is like evil to avoid.
The world also has many people who teach morality and ethics to determine what is good and what is evil, but all the foundations come from the teachings of sinful, imperfect humans, so the moral and ethical foundations are also imperfect, constantly changing according to space, they may be true in one place but not in another, and change over time, they may be considered true in the last century but be eliminated in the modern world. However, the “prophecies” or the Word of God are the truth, never changing, “the grass withers, the flower falls; but the Word of our God endures forever!” (Isaiah 40:8). The Word of God is the unchanging foundation for judging right and wrong, good and evil, good and evil so that people can live rightly, live well and live usefully.
May our hearts love His law
delight in His commandments,
avoid evil and evil-like things,
“Or whatever you do… do it all for the glory of Jehovah…”
May the Father be with me, deliver us and help me avoid all evil
May His word be a lamp to my feet every step, illuminating my path.
In the name of Jesus Christ amen ..
WANTING WITH ALL YOUR HEART …
