SERVING GOD IS NOT RELIGION – IT IS EACH INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY’S LIFE
- Serving God is not a ritual, but daily life
Many people think that “serving God” is something that belongs to the church, to rituals, to religion. But the Bible does not define it that way. Serving God is living out your faith in your real life: in your family, your work, your relationships, and every little action you take every day.
“Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
(1 Corinthians 10:31)
Nurturing your family, taking care of your body, being faithful to your daily work – that is worship, when done with faith and love.
- Religion is a system – the Gospel is a relationship
Religion is a structure: it has organizations, rules, temples, banners, and even involves the culture and politics of the nation. Any religion – Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, even “Christianity” when systematized – is in danger of becoming a carnal form if it is separated from the true Spirit.
“They have a form of godliness but deny its power.”
(2 Timothy 3:5)
True service to God does not come from “religious works” but from a transformed heart.
- Religion is controlled by politics and culture
Most traditional religions are part of the socio-political structure. They are used to regulate community morality, attract the masses, and exert power. Even “God-worshiping” religions like Judaism or Islam – when they emphasize organization, form, and rules over the Name and Spirit of God – also become carnal.
Jesus was opposed by the Pharisee religious establishment – because He did not follow a religious system, but taught about life and truth coming from God.
- “The yeast of the Pharisees” – is the disease of spiritual blindness, but thinking that one is enlightened
Jesus warned:
“Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
(Matthew 16:6)
The yeast of religion causes people to distance themselves from real life, to rush into superstitious forms, but to have the illusion that they are close to God.
A person infected with “the yeast of the Pharisees”:
Diligently participates in church activities, but neglects the family.
Prays a lot but does not know how to take care of food, clothing, and money.
Preaching morality but not living it in real life.
Religion when no longer serves real life – will become a tool to enchant, control, even profit from the weak.
- Live religion – do not play religion
The Gospel calls people back to God through Jesus, and to live a personal relationship with Him – without the need for religious forms, without the need for temples, clergy, or systems.
“God seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and truth.”
(John 4:23)
Therefore:
✅ A father who takes care of his wife and children with a reverent heart – is serving God.
✅ A mother who takes care of meals, keeps faith in God – is worshiping Him.
✅ An honest businessman, living religion in society – is dedicating his life to God.
CONCLUSION: TRUE FAITH IS MANIFESTED IN REAL LIFE
✝ Religion may be beautiful to the eye, but it does not save anyone.
✝ The name of Jesus is not in the system – but in the spirit of the believer.
✝ Family, work, body, speech – all are “living altars” if offered with love for God.
“Present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1)
