What will happen to those who are greedy for money and sell their land and gardens that their ancestors reclaimed and protected from wild animals and bandits? They are like Esau who coveted a bowl of red beans and lost their human rights.

Who does the land belong to? Do officials have the right to take away each person’s land?

After you sell your garden, the officials will raise the price of the land and your children will want to buy it back. How will the land increase and the agricultural and food products will increase and how long will the money from selling the land last?

Jezebel Ahab wanted and took Naboth’s land, “Give me your vineyard. It is near my palace so that I can make a vegetable garden.” 3 Naboth replied, “The LORD forbid that I should give my land to the king, for it belongs to my family.”

7 Jezebel said to Ahab, “Is this how you rule over Israel as king? …11Then the elders told Jezebel, “Naboth has been killed.” When Ahab heard that Naboth the Jezreelite was dead, he got up and went to take possession of the vineyard. He was in Naboth’s vineyard, which he had taken for his own. 19Say to Ahab, ‘I, the LORD, say to you, ‘You killed Naboth and took his land. Therefore I tell you: In the place where dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, dogs will lick up your blood.’”

So Jezebel used her authority to take back the land and then took it for herself.

Before God, each person’s land belongs to his own family. It does not belong to any king or official.

Who has the right to each person’s land? Even though David was the king, when he wanted Araunah’s land, he had to buy it fairly. Araunah said to David, “All these things Araunah will give to the king.” 24 The king said to Araunah, “No, I will buy them all from you for the price of silver.”
