THE CHOSEN: GOD WANTS YOU TO REJECT SIN AND LIVE HOLY
Many people believe that no one can live without sin, but this is not biblical. We are not taught to accept sin as part of our nature, but are called to overcome it. God did not create us to be slaves to sin.
The enemy has led many believers to believe that sin is inevitable, so they stop trying to overcome it. However, God gives us the power to overcome sin, not to live with it. We all have a choice – sinning is a decision, not a destiny.
Sin is not an accident. The devil only suggests it, but it is up to you to choose whether or not to follow through. So if you sin, it is by choice, not by force.
Before Jesus came, people had no power to overcome sin. But when He came, He fulfilled the law, died for us, and gave us the Spirit to live a new life. Now you are no longer under the law of sin.
Romans 8:1–2 confirms that those who are in Christ are no longer under condemnation. The Spirit has set us free from the law of sin and death. Sin is no longer compulsory – you can choose to live in spiritual freedom.
When we are born again, we receive a new nature and are no longer slaves to sin. Although Romans 3:23 says that all have sinned, that is before receiving Christ. Once we are cleansed, we are called to live a holy life.
1 John 2:1 says, “If anyone sins,” that is, sin is something that can be avoided. It is not something that is certain to happen, but something that we can refuse to do. Paul also makes it clear, “We who died to sin, how can we live any longer in it?”
Jesus said in Matthew 5:48 that we should be perfect, as our heavenly Father is perfect. He does not lower the standard of holiness, but gives us grace to reach that standard. True faith always comes with true transformation.
God does not want a church that has spot, wrinkle, or blemish (Ephesians 5:27). He expects us to live blameless, holy, and faithful lives. This is not just an ideal, but something He has empowered us to do.
Revelation 21:8 makes it clear that all liars, murderers, and sinners will be thrown into the lake of fire. John also affirms that anyone who hates his brother is a murderer. Even seemingly small things are taken seriously by God.
Those who continue to sin without repenting have not truly understood or accepted the work of Christ. God has given us His Spirit, His Word, His grace, and His promises to enable us to live a godly life. No one has an excuse for not living a holy life.
We must not use grace as an excuse to sin. Instead, live as people who truly belong to God, using His strength to overcome all temptations. Live a life worthy of the calling that God has given you.
