TEACHING CHILDREN FROM EARLY AGE
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
(Proverbs 22:6)
Children are like blank sheets of paper – what is written on them at the beginning will be imprinted throughout their lives. Childhood is a decisive time to shape, educate, and build a foundation of morality, faith, and character.
- The “golden” time to sow the seeds of life
When children are young, they live in a simple and easily influenced world. Although the things they observe and experience at this time may seem trivial, they are deep memories that will shape their way of life and thinking in the future.
Teaching children at a young age is not just about teaching them how to behave, but about instilling in them a sense of right and wrong, justice, and especially faith in God.
If you miss this moment – parents can still feed their children’s “flesh”, but neglect their souls – the eternal life that God entrusted to you to care for.
- Age-appropriate teaching
Teaching children does not mean forcing them to live like adults. Each stage of development has its own approach:
Children need simple teachings, full of love and patience.
School-age children need encouragement and living examples from their parents.
When they grow up, children need to see true faith and live in their parents – rather than dry theories.
Faith cannot be forced, but can be inspired by a true life and loving guidance.
- The heavenly responsibility of parents
“The rich governs the poor; the borrower is the servant of the giver.”
(Proverbs 22:7)
Children are “borrowed” from God – they do not belong to us completely. Parents are not only responsible for the material things, but also for the faithful stewardship of their children’s souls.
There will come a day when you “return” them to God – when your children grow up, leave your arms, and enter an independent life. At that time, what remains is: Do they fear God? Do they love the truth? Do they live for goodness and righteousness?
CONCLUSION: TEACH YOUR CHILDREN BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE
Children cannot wait until they are older to teach them. You can provide everything for them – but if you do not care for their souls, you have not fulfilled your mission as parents.
Teaching children from an early age – is sowing the seeds of faith, character and eternal life.
Don’t miss the time God gives you – because when “your child is old”, you may not have time to shape him or her.
“Teaching your child the way of God – is also living out the mission God has given you.”
AMEN.
