Contentment is Great Gain

Contentment is Great Gain. Why do people need to realize “contentment”?

In life, we often ask ourselves: “What is the use of having a lot of money? Can power, fame, and wealth bring true happiness?” Sometimes, people disregard morality, compete, and plot endlessly to have more wealth and power—but do those worries help our lives last a single moment?

  1. Worrying Cannot Add a Moment

Jesus taught in the Gospel of Matthew:

“You cannot add a moment to your life by worrying.”

— Matthew 6:27

No matter how worried we are, how restless we are, life still passes by every second. Money and power cannot buy a moment for a worried heart.

  1. Lessons from the Birds and the Flowers

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not plant or reap or gather food, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. You are much more valuable than birds.

Look at the lilies of the field; they do not toil or wear clothes, yet not even Solomon in all his wealth was dressed like one of these.”

—Matthew 6:26, 28–29

The birds of the air are free, without having to worry about their storehouses, yet they are cared for by God.

The flowers of the field are radiant in the sun, without competing, but are honored by the Creator.

We—humans—are loved and cared for more than birds and flowers. So why let ourselves be immersed in worries about food and clothing?

  1. Prioritize the Kingdom, God’s Will

“What you should seek above all is the kingdom and the will of God, and all these things will be given to you.”

Matthew 6:33

When you put the Kingdom—the eternal value—first, all your basic needs are provided for by the Creator. That is the reason why we should be content, not chasing after things beyond our control.

  1. Each Day Has Enough to Worry About

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have other things to worry about. Each day has enough to worry about.”

Matthew 6:34

Instead of worrying about the future, live today to the fullest—with gratitude, confidence, and peace. When our hearts are at peace, we can realize that contentment is truly the greatest gain.

Conclusion:

Don’t let wealth and power dominate your soul.

Learn from the birds and flowers: live simply and trust in God.

Resolve to put the Kingdom first—all your needs will be met.

Knowing how to be content is finding freedom and peace in every moment of your life.
