The harsh reality of love and humility being distorted in hypocritical religions is a painful problem, completely contrary to the precious teachings of freedom in the Bible. When these fundamental teachings are exploited, they become tools to control and turn believers into “unknowing sheep,” losing the ability to independently seek the truth.
When Love and Humility Are Perverted
The Bible always emphasizes the importance of love and humility. Love is the foundation of all relationships, including with God and with others. Humility helps us realize the greatness of the Creator and our own smallness, thereby knowing how to live in service and respect for others.
However, in some religious organizations, these noble concepts are distorted. The doctrines and sermons on love and humility are repeated endlessly, but ignore the law of grace given by the Savior YesHWaH. Instead of promoting personal spiritual growth and a direct relationship with God, they become a means to consolidate the power of the clergy.
Blind Obedience and Loss of Freedom
The Bible is clear about the freedom we have in Christ:
Galatians 5:1: “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”
John 8:36: “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
2 Corinthians 3:17: “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
These verses emphasize a core truth: freedom is a divine gift given by God through His Son and the Holy Spirit. It is not freedom to live a life of self-indulgence, but freedom from sin, from slavery to the law and to men, so that we can come directly to God, to seek and understand His Truth.
However, in many hypocritical religions, self-proclaimed “superiors” based on theological degrees and ordination systems, use “humility” and “love” to deceive believers into blind obedience. They want believers to become “uninformed sheep,” without their own opinions, without the courage to question, and without the freedom to seek the Truth for themselves. Instead of respecting the gifts that God has given to each believer in the law of free grace, they focus on consolidating their own power.
Monopoly of Truth and Control
The clergy in these religions consider themselves to be “fathers and mothers,” “masters of the world,” and to be able to judge every aspect of the lives of believers. They have a monopoly on the Truth of God’s Word and the exclusive right to “dispense” it. They set up rigid rules that restrict the free grace of each believer to come directly to God’s Truth. This is completely contrary to the nature of the personal relationship that each person can have with God through Jesus Christ.
When love and humility are turned into tools of control, believers are deprived of their spiritual freedom, their ability to think independently, and their right to seek the Truth directly from God. This is a dangerous distortion that distorts the nature of true faith and weakens the personal relationship each person can have with the Creator.
