THE SPIRIT LEAVING THE BODY – WHEN THE BODY RUNS OUT OF ENERGY
- The spirit is not material, but is in material
The human spirit – the deepest spiritual part – is spirit, not material. However, in the present life, the spirit resides in the physical body.
The physical body is a “temporary house”, a “shell”, but also a means of nourishing the spirit in the present life.
- The spirit needs energy to maintain its presence in the body
The spirit cannot “exist” in the physical body if the body runs out of life energy.
When the physical body is still active, nourished by breath, blood, food, life, the spirit still resides.
When the physical body dies, meaning it loses all its biological energy, the spirit leaves the body – that is death.
“The body without the spirit is dead.”
(James 2:26)
- The human spirit is weak – needs shelter and nourishment
The spirit – the spirit within each person – is very weak and vulnerable when not nourished by:
The Word of God (spiritual)
Physical life (physical)
Therefore, the spirit needs shelter in a living body.
And that body needs life energy to keep the spirit alive.
- Life is not just breath – but the connection between the Spirit and the body
A person’s life is not just a biological sign, but the connection between the Spirit and the body.
When the Spirit leaves the body, the body becomes dust.
(Ecclesiastes 12:7)
- Spiritual Lesson: Nourish both body and spirit
The flesh needs nourishment to survive.
The spirit also needs the Word of God to live.
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
(Matthew 4:4)
Remember: The body may be strong, but if the spirit is hungry, life is but an empty shell.
CONCLUSION
The spirit leaves the body when the body runs out of energy.
But the spirit is strengthened when it is nourished by the Word and lived for its purpose.
Take care of both the body and the soul – so that life will not only last, but will be of eternal value.
AMEN.
