The One True God and the Spirits of the Air . The Bible teaches that there is only one true God—the Creator, the Almighty, the Eternal—revealed in the Old Testament and through His Son, Jesus Christ, in the New Testament.
“There is no other besides Me. I kill, I keep alive, I wound, I heal” (Deuteronomy 32:39).
- The “Gods” of the Air Are Not Gods
The Bible repeatedly affirms that the “gods” worshiped by the pagans—including the spirits of the air—are not true gods. They are:
Products of man: “…wood and stone, the work of human hands” (2 Kings 19:18).
Molded into idols, offered in sacrifices, and worshiped falsely (Exodus 20:3–5; 32:4–8).
Called “the prince of the power of the air”—that is, an invisible force that influences fallen humanity (Ephesians 2:2; 6:12).
These “gods” are spirit forces, false images created or received by human thought, emotion, and rebellion. They are present in the minds, lifestyles, and spirits of those who disobey God.
“Because the Arameans have said, ‘The LORD is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys,’ I will put all this great host into your hand, and you will know that I am the LORD.” (1 Kings 20:28)
- Demons Are Matter—Not Gods
Demons are not “spirits” in the spiritual sense, but are invisible, gaseous, material beings that exist in the cosmic space.
They cannot create life or light, nor do they have the power to give water or energy (1 Kings 18:24).
They must cling to humans to maintain their presence on earth because humans were given the authority to rule from the beginning (Genesis 1:28).
They obey the spirits that come from the human heart, because from the heart come the spirits, the evil thoughts, that is, the distorted mental currents—the very place where demons operate.
“You are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”—The Lord rebuked Peter: “Get behind me, Satan!” (Mark 8:33)
- The air – the realm of spiritual warfare
The apostle Paul reveals that Christians’ battle is not with flesh and blood, but with:
Principalities,
Powers,
The rulers of this dark world,
The evil spirits in the air (Ephesians 6:12).
The air (in the biblical context) is the upper atmosphere, that is, the space where Satan and his demons operate—and the place that opposes the light and throne of God.
“The stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (Mark 13:25)
- There is only one God—the One True God
He does not dwell in images or in the physical air.
He is self-existent—eternal—full of Spirit, Light, Truth.
He gives the spirit of life to the righteous and judges the evil spirits, the unholy spirits, and those who worship them (Psalm 135:5; Isaiah 42:8; Jeremiah 10:11).
“This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)
