Meditation is unscientific

Meditation is unscientific, far from the truth, and can easily lead to connection with false spirits.

The word “Buddha” (the Sino-Vietnamese transliteration of Buddha) originally means “enlightened person” – but in fact it is just an adjective, referring to the state of being “enlightened” or on a journey to seek enlightenment about the truth. That also means: the truth is not within that person, so it needs to be sought from the outside.

So even Sakyamuni is not the truth, because he left the palace, family and wealth to embark on a journey… to seek the truth.

Meditation – or “meditation method” – is a method of calming the mind, that is, eliminating all influences from the material world so that the soul falls into a state of emptiness, hoping to hear something from the “spiritual world”. However, if in that spiritual world there is no Word of truth from God, then that void will open the door for false spirits to enter.

Jesus himself clearly warned of this danger in Matthew 12:43-45:

“When an evil spirit goes out of a person, it goes through dry places seeking rest, and finds none. It says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they enter and live there. The last state of that person is worse than the first.”

This is a warning about the consequences of a soul that is “cleansed” without being filled with the Word of God. A spiritual emptiness—as in meditation—is not purity, but fertile ground for evil spirits to invade.

When people try to “become enlightened” by rejecting all material things—believing that “all things are vanity”—they also deny the very life that comes from the Creator. For the Bible affirms:

“In the beginning was the Word… All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made that was made.” (John 1:1–3)

“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4)

Matter is not the enemy of spirituality, because all matter was created by the Word – God. Even science – if it is honest – is looking for the “Word” within things, that is, structure, information, meaning. True science always leads to the knowledge of the Creator.

So, meditating to empty the mind, rejecting matter and hoping to reach the “spiritual realm” outside of God is unscientific, untrue and extremely dangerous. Instead of seeking the living Word, the meditator is exposing his soul to demons – who specialize in masquerading as angels of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

Jesus said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

He is the Word, the Truth incarnate – not a method, but a living person – the Creator and the Redeemer.

The Vietnamese people have worshiped “God” since ancient times – the One revealed by Jesus. Those in primitive Buddhism who truly thirst for the truth, if they seek honestly and are not bound by human images, will realize that the Word is the destination of all journeys of enlightenment.

Unfortunately, in the history of many religions, the true church fathers have left a legacy of truth – goodness – beauty, but over time, the leaders of monopolized religions have distorted the truth, created idol systems, worshiped the deceased leader to deceive the people and prevent them from coming to God – just like the Pharisees of old.
