Mere Servant… Or Friend?
“Kiss the Son, lest He be angry… Blessed is he who takes refuge in Him!”
Psalm 2:12
“You gave Me no kiss, but this woman, from the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet.”
Luke 7:45
Kissing in biblical culture is not just a greeting but a sign of love, admiration, forgiveness, compassion, and worship. When the Psalmist calls, “Kiss the Son,” it is an invitation to enter into a true relationship of love and worship with Jesus Christ.
The woman in Luke 7 did not preach, did not do great works – but her love, repentance, and sincere worship moved the Lord, while Simon, a religious man, did not even get a kiss.
Servant – but did he kiss Him?
Today, many servants of God are busy, preaching, organizing programs, writing books, evangelizing… But at the end of the day, if God asks:
“Have you kissed Me?”
Can we answer?
We easily become “professional servants,” forgetting that God is not looking for good servants – He is looking for people who truly love Him.
He is looking for people who “kiss His Son” every day – with love, adoration, deep personal communion in the spirit.
Not work – but love
No book, title, or job will make us stand firm before God.
Only a heart that loves Him.
“I love John Wesley’s words: ‘Let me kiss Your bloody feet and wash them with my tears.’”
Dr. A.W. Tozer once lay quietly in the presence of God for 3–4 hours, not praying, not singing praises, just silently in adoration.
He recounts:
“I was so caught up in His beauty and holiness… I had no words. I just stood there, admiring Him.”
Are you His servant, or His beloved friend?
Servants serve. Friends worship.
Servants do the work. Friends offer love.
Who are you in your relationship with Christ?
Stop in the middle of serving and simply say to Him:
“Lord, I love You. I just want to be with You, bow down in worship, kiss Your feet with love and gratitude.”
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
(John 4:24)
He is not looking for more work – He is looking for someone who truly loves Him.
So are you just a servant or a close friend of Christ?
