POWERFUL PRAYER AGAINST FAITH AND GENERATIONAL SPIRITS
We are living in a real spiritual war. Many people are bound by familiar spirits – evil forces that have been attached to a family or a lineage for a long time – and generational spirits that spread illness, failure, conflict, and spiritual confusion across generations. But in the Name of Jesus, we have the power to cast them out and live free in Christ.
What are familiar spirits?
The Bible repeatedly mentions “mediums” and “diviners” (Leviticus 19:31, 20:6), who are connected to evil spirits called “familiar spirits.” These are evil spirits who serve witches, wizards, and occult practitioners, and have the ability to stalk and impersonate deceased relatives, and manipulate emotions to control people.
They often reside silently in a family for generations, knowing the history, habits, and weaknesses of its members. They can create problems such as hereditary diseases, addictions, family divisions, and cycles of failure. Some spirits are even passed down from grandparents to grandchildren without being recognized.
How do they enter?
These spirits can enter our lives through doors such as:
Ancestors who were involved in divination, idolatry, or magic.
Someone in the family who has knowingly or unknowingly made a pact with magic.
A generational curse, hidden sin, or an occult pact that has not been broken.
Once they gain access, they will reside permanently, silently wreaking havoc and sowing spiritual, emotional and physical chaos.
Can we be set free?
Absolutely! God has not abandoned His people. Through faith in Jesus Christ, powerful prayer and repentance, we can break the influence of familiar spirits and restore blessing to our entire race.
Luke 10:19 affirms, “I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy…”
1 John 4:4 reminds us, “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”
Now, let us enter into the victorious prayer.
PRAYER FOR DELIVERY FROM FAmiliar Spirits
Heavenly Father,
We come to You with the assurance that You hear and act when Your people pray. We thank You for the power of the Cross, for the blood of Jesus has set us free from every power of darkness (Isaiah 61:1, Matthew 18:18).
We declare freedom for ourselves and our descendants. In the Name of Jesus, we bind every familiar spirit at work in our families and declare, you must go now!
Please enlighten and expose every sinful agreement, curse, or ancestral action that has opened the door to these spirits (Ephesians 5:13). We repent and renounce all ties to the occult, mediums, idolatry, and spiritism (1 John 1:9, Deuteronomy 18:10-11).
We declare:
Every generational disease must be removed. (Isaiah 53:5)
Every poverty and debt must be broken. (Deuteronomy 8:18)
Every addiction and destructive behavior must be banished. (Galatians 5:1)
Every family division and conflict will be replaced by reconciliation. (Ephesians 2:14)
We cut off all ties and deceptions in our minds. Silence familiar spirits and renew our minds according to Your Word (Isaiah 54:17, Romans 12:2).
Restore what has been plundered through the generations (Joel 2:25), seal us with the Holy Spirit so that there is no room for evil spirits to enter (Ephesians 1:13), and fill us with Your own Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).
We exercise the spiritual power we have been given (Luke 10:19), proclaim generational blessing in place of curse (Exodus 20:6), and hide ourselves in Your protection (Psalm 91:9-10).
We resist every attempt by familiar spirits to return. Grant us discernment, wisdom, and strength to walk steadfastly in our new freedom (James 1:5).
We receive righteousness, joy, and peace in the Holy Spirit, and declare, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
We pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
