5 MISTAKES AFTER PRAYER YOU SHOULD NOT MAKE
After praying, many people unintentionally ruin what they have offered to God because of seemingly small mistakes. Here are 5 serious mistakes you need to avoid.
- Contradicting your prayer
After praying, you should not utter negative or doubtful words. Words have power; it is negative statements that inadvertently destroy your own prayer. Remember the words of the Angel Gabriel who silenced Zechariah because he doubted God’s promise (Luke 1). Align your words and faith with your prayer.
- Giving in to deception and pressure
When you don’t see an answer, it’s easy to look for shortcuts or disrespectful alternatives. This was Abraham’s mistake in going to Hagar to give birth to Ishmael instead of waiting for the promise (Genesis 16). This has long-term consequences for the entire world. Trust that God has the best time and way for you.
- Giving up too quickly
Delay is not the same as denial. Jesus taught about the widow who persisted in demanding justice in Luke 18. Daniel also prayed for three weeks when the answer was blocked in the spirit world. “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and believe that God is working even as you pray.
- Lack of faith that God has heard your prayer
Many people pray and then doubt whether God has heard them. This shows a lack of trust and conflict in their hearts. The Bible says, “If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1 John 5:14)
After praying, give thanks, and trust that the prayer has been heard and is in the process of being answered.
- Losing patience while waiting
It’s easy to lose hope when we don’t see immediate results. In fact, God works in His timing, not according to our hasty wishes. Psalm 40:1, David says, “I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry.” Trust that delay is training, not rejection.
Summary
After praying, remember that God has heard and is working. Don’t let words, doubts, or haste ruin God’s gift. Be faithful, patient, and have faith. God can be trusted to answer every prayer according to His will.
